Busted: Two women among six held for kidnapping trader

Kidnappers had threatened to kill the trader if the ransom was not paid.

The police obtained physical remand of six suspected kidnappers on Thursday. The six persons, including two women, were arrested late Wednesday night in connection with the kidnapping of a trader after an exchange of gunshots.


A team of Pirwadhai police in a successful operation recovered Munir Ahmed who was kidnapped three months ago on September 25 from the Pirwadhai area.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs25 million for his release and had given midnight as the deadline for the payment of the ransom.

They had threatened to kill the trader if the ransom was not paid.

The police traced their telephone calls and raided their hideout and rescued the trader safely after an exchange of gunfire with the kidnapers.
