Pending promotions: Teachers threaten to protest
Kahlon accused the Education Department officials of negligence in forwarding the recommendations.
MARALA:
Primary school teachers here plan to stage protest demonstrations in the district from next week, if they are not given “long pending” promotions, Punjab Teachers’ Union District President Muhammad Asghar Kahlon said on Wednesday. Talking to The Express Tribune, he said that no primary school teacher in the Sialkot district had been given in-service promotion for seven years. He accused the Education Department officials of negligence in forwarding the recommendations. He said education officers in the district were “more focused on personal endorsement” than helping or hearing the teachers. He said the teachers whose promotion had been pending had submitted their service books to the senior officials, but no promotions had been notified.
