The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) support for the “million-man march” being organised by Minhajul Quran International (MQI) seems to have had a direct impact on the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Signs of anger and frustration surfaced on Tuesday as PPP leaders suggested to party co-chairman President Asif Ali Zardari to revisit the controversial Sindh Peoples Local Government System 2012.
Sources in the Pakistan Peoples Party told The Express Tribune that soon after the MQM-MQI rally, which was addressed by Tahirul Qadri and Altaf Hussain, PPP leaders held a meeting with President Zardari.
The meeting was followed by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s visit to Bilawal House where the president and co-PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present. Sources revealed that the president asked PPP leaders to go ahead with the amendments and pursue the enraged Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F)leadership, Sindhi nationalists and other groups.
All Sindhi nationalist parties have already announced that they will not participate in Qadri’s long march. Sources said that soon after the meeting, the Sindh chief minister directed law and local government departments to look into the matter and start “homework” on the local government system again.
However, sources said that the final decision will be made after the long march.
A senior official in the law department said that they had been given directives to revisit the local government law following the Supreme Court’s remarks in the case.

@ Mehran , Mehra is a man with a failed reproductive system , which sysrem you are talking about . Any way revolution always evolve a new system . Existing system get modified automatically accordingly .....
@Mehran: Dear, does constitution allow quota system ?
peoples welfare has least importance, they manufacture rules according to their political expediency
@Mehran: if they are non aliens then we do need aliens
@Shah N. Khan: You used term "Aliens" and accused them for all the evils in Karachi. First it is just a propaganda. As per constitution, Evey Pakistani has complete right and can live in any city of Pakistan they like and secondly when people raise such issue, they should know when did first they arrive to this city? Because following your rule of thumb, then only non-aliens are Sindhi.
@the Skunk: Better not to eat the politicians because there is a danger of severe food poisoning leading to further casualties.
Karachi should have an elected mayor like other metropolitan cities like New York and smae type of policing system. Failure of all the four provincial government to hold local body elections is sad and is serious lapse in complying with an important provision of the constitution.Growing lawlessness and street crimes in Karachi and theft of water, electricity as also land grabbing by aliens is creating serious problems for citizens and taxpayers.
Let there be change because with change good things arise with the sun every morning.
The MQM has a philosophy of socio-economic development for all peoples and do not restrict it to specific areas. Depending on the priority sectors and the release of funds, all are treated without any bias. The SLGO was passed and then put into slumber. This jugglery has not worked and the so-called master politician is now re-energizing the SLGO to save his skin and his PPP.
In sixty-five years, the politicians only fattened themselves and now are ripe to be eaten by the people of Pakistan.
Salams for 2013.
Two can play this game :-)
the LG system has been introduced on the longstanding demand of MQM. It is right time for PPP to either repeal it or make drastic changes to system for face saving in rural areas because majority of the people consider it anti Sindh system which according to them have divided the province in two separate administrative units
PPP should learn to go without MQM. MQM should get out of the long march. It will be a vulnarable target for the terrorists, TTP or others and lead to chaos, confusion and loss of precious lives. Dr.Qadri is requested to contest in the upcoming elections and then go ahead with his constitutional reforms in the assemblies.
Attending the processions of Tahir-ul-Qadri,Imran Khan and MQM by the people shows and proves that now the time of change has come and the nation wants only change and wants to close/end the ancestral political system in Pakistan and most especially importantly wants to get rid of corrupt leadership, politicians, ministers, bureaucrats and political system and wants revolution in Pakistan at least now and PPP has lost its credibility and popularity in Punjab,KPK and Balochistan. At least now PPP has to admit and acknowledge it....
PPP has been trying to appease MQM for last five years, but they did not prove reliable ally. But on important issue like LG system, there should be no politics. No law should be formulated on the basis of party/personal gains. LG system should serve needs of people and it is NOT to be used as a card to appease any party for political gains. People are resisting SPLG system in Sindh because it doesn't serve them but it is rather a power share between two parties. Pls change current SPLG Bill and bring a healthy, people friendly and fair LG system which serves every Sindhi irrespective of his class, color, and language. The input from intellectuals, media, and civil society should be gathered in order to shape more viable LG system.
We support you MQM.
Can't understand, Altaf is part of this government and they are demonstrating for a better government?? What a DRAMA by MQM
