Rest in peace: Aligarh ‘old boy’ passes away

Siddiqi was born in Ghaziabad, India, in 1916 and obtained a degree from Aligarh Muslim University in 1935.

KARACHI: Saeed Siddiqi, the oldest Aligarhian, passed away on Sunday after a brief period of illness. He was laid to rest at Paposh Nagar graveyard after his funeral prayers were offered at the Paposh Jamia Masjid.

Siddiqi was born in Ghaziabad, India, in 1916 and obtained a degree from Aligarh Muslim University in 1935 after which he started serving in the Indian Government.

Later, he joined the Pakistan Movement and often met Quaid-e-Azam and Liaquat Ali Khan. Since he was a very active member of the movement, he was given an award for his services in 2012.
