ICC Women’s World Cup: Sana to lead Pakistan in Mumbai

KARACHI: Experienced all-rounder Sana Mir has been retained as captain to lead Pakistan at the ICC Women’s World Cup that will start later this month in Mumbai, India.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Women Wing announced the 15-player Pakistan squad for the major competition after holding various trialsmatches in Lahore last month.

Bismah Maroof, who has played 47 One-Day Internationals, has been designated the vice-captain. According to a team official, the players will undergo extensive training before leaving for India.

The tournament will be played from January 31 to February 17. Eight teams divided into two groups will vie for the title. Pakistan are placed in Group B with Australia, New Zealand and South Africa while group A comprises England, West Indies and Sri Lanka besides hosts India.
