President Asif Ali Zardari and the chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had been staying in Naudero House to attend the fifth death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Yousuf was arrested by the president’s security personnel on December 26 while filming the living quarters of the president - which are off limits to the general public - through his cell phone.
Larkana ASP Nadeem Qureshi confirmed that Yousuf has been arrested and that he is a resident of Shah Faisal Colony in Karachi. Yousuf was working under the supervision of his contractor, Fida Hussain, in Naudero House, he said. According to Qureshi, mobile phones are banned in the president house due to security reasons and everyone is screened before being granted entry. Therefore, it has yet to be known how Yousuf managed to get a cell phone inside.
Qureshi also pointed out that the police are not responsible for the internal security of the president house. This had been Yousuf’s third visit to the house in the past six months and the case is still being investigated, he added.
When contacted for information, the assistant head constable at Naudero police station, Abdul Razzaq, denied any arrests being made on the aforementioned charges.
