Waseem Ahmed named new FIA director general

Ahmed has been appointed as Director General FIA in view of increasing target killing incidents in Karachi.

KARACHI: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi, Waseem Ahmed, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Waseem Ahmed took charge as CCPO Karachi in June 2008. According to sources, in view of increasing target killing incidents in Karachi, Ahmed has been appointed as Director General FIA. A notification has been issued in this regard.

The Federal government has transferred the former Director General FIA, Zafarullah Khan to the national counter terrorism authority.

Meanwhile, Mushtaq
Shah has been appointed as chairman anti-corruption while Saud Mirza as additional Inspector General Crime Investigation Department.

According to reports, the names of Wajid Durrani, Mushtaq Shah, Zafar Farooqui, Fayyaz Laghari and Captain Falak Khursheed are under consideration for Karachi’s new CCPO.
