Development schemes: Sindh’s first veterinary hospital inaugurated

President Zardari inaugurates several infrastructure projects, educational institutions.

NAUDERO: A day after addressing nearly 200,000 people and having witnessed the launch of the political career of his son at Garhi Khuda Bux, President Asif Ali Zardari spent another busy day as he inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects and educational institutions on Friday.

President Zardari inaugurated the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Sakrand, and a Shaheed Benazir Bhutto chair and convention centre (SBBC) at Sindh University Jamshoro. The 61-kilometre (km) Larkana-Naudero-Lakhi Road, 19-km Sakrand-Shaheed Benazirabad Road and a 15-km Ratodero-Naudero Road that goes through Garhi Khuda Bux were also inaugurated.

Presidential spokesperson Senator Farahtullah Babar said that the veterinary university was completed at an estimated cost of Rs3 billion. Its main campus is located in Sakrand, while an additional campus has been built in Larkana. It is the first veterinary institute in the province, and only the second in the country.



Babar added that the provincial government allotted 50 acres of land for free for the construction of a SU campus near Dadu. He added that Rs100 million has been earmarked for this project in the annual development budget. Quoting the president, Babar said that the government has completed seven road projects in Sindh, at a cost of Rs18 billion. The spokesperson also referred to the conversion of the Super Highway, which connects Karachi with Hyderabad, into a six-lane motorway.
