The FR regions are buffer zones separating the tribal areas from the settled.
According to the official three check posts came under attack in the Hasankhel area “22 levies personnel are missing after the attack” Akbar said, while adding that the men were taken from two check posts.
A senior security official told The Express Tribune that the first attack took place two hours past midnight on December 27, when militants attacked the Jani Khawar post. At least one official was killed in an exchange of fire with the militants.
“Almost an hour later two more check posts Zarqa and Ghakhee Sar came under attack.”
“A search operation has been launched for their recovery,” he said, adding “we hope that they scattered after the attack, hiding in the nearby areas.”
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Dara Adamkhel have claimed responsibility for the attack. They further disputed the official figure, claiming there were many more soldiers than what the officials were willing to admit.
Peshawar and its surrounding have faced a brunt of attacks in the last two weeks, despite heightened security, a continued military operation in neighbouring Khyber Agency and redeployment of security on all unconventional routes, such attacks continue to haunt the resident of the areas.

@abid: Fully agree with your views. It is beyond ones comprehension that a well trained six lac strong army and one of largest armies of the world is unable to defeat TTP whose number is not more than thirty thousand especially in the scenario when there is no external threat to Pakistan. Thousands of innocent people have been ruthlessly killed and several soldiers beheaded but no decisive operation has been launched against TTP. Kayani top priority is Afghanistan and put its strategic assets as the next rulers, therefore no action is being taken against Pak Taliban who have laid down tough conditions at the point of the gun and ask the govt for compliance or face more barbarities by them. If the armed forces of the country have decided not to fight Taliban then who will fight them and save the innocent civilians, can anyone in Pakistan has any solution to offer ??
But the Pakistan military has all along been claiming that they have deployed regular army (not the cheap levies person who has no stemina or training to fight terrorists) in this area and sent a bill of $1.1 billion out of which $700 million they have been promised to be reimbursed by the USA.
$700 million is almost Pakistani Rupee 700,00 million or 70 billion rupees.
This is pathetic. Now these missing soldiers will be found beheaded somewhere. Our generals should either take off their bangles or retire!!!
who did the kidnapping.the good taliban or the bad taliban..............
@Shahzad: Imran Khan has chosen to be a public representative. He must also know what others are thinking about (other than those around him) and what others are going thru after losing their loved ones in the name of religion.
Basit Khan: Genius, stop blaming Imran Khan for every goddamn thing. Use your intellect to bring about a better solution than criticizing Imran Khan.
@Basit Khan: Imran Khan considers them brothers. So no violation as far as he's concerned.
this is really strange ..can anybody hold Pak army chief accountable after dozens of huge embarrassments? On one hand after Bin laden, multipule air base attacks he was given extension whereas Gen Patreaus himself resigned because he got romantically linked with a lady ..the reason he gave about his resignation was it is in his nations best interest. No nation extends the army cheif's tenure until and unless there is exceptional service done to the country and that extension at maximum is eight months or 1 year. Here in Pakistan an army cheif can be given extension till he decides to step down. This corruption is really making Pak Army hollow from inside.
my comment was not posted when i said pak army has been defeated by ttp .Does Pak express tribune has any reason to say that this is not true..if yes then can they give a logical reason?
The picture seems to be that our army appears to be helpless..........hard to believe.
Did they violate our sovereignty ? I hope not, otherwise Imran Khan would be very angry.
