RAWALPINDI:

Families of the Dhoke Syedan suicide blast victims on Wednesday criticised the police for their inability to trace the suspects and demanded that the army take over the investigations.

Addressing a press conference at the Rawalpindi Press Club, they also criticised the federal government for not giving them compensation money, unlike the Punjab government.

They demanded that the investigation be conducted by the army and a search operation be conducted in the locality to root out any potential terrorists or elements supporting them.

They also demanded that the victims injured in the blast be provided better medical care at the public hospitals that they are admitted to, children of the deceased be given jobs and the businesses in the area be compensated for their losses.

The blast occurred on November 21 when a Muharram procession in Dhoke Syedan in Rawalpindi was targeted by a suicide bomber.

So far, 20 people have died in or owing to injuries from the blast.

The Rawalpindi police have been unable to trace the actions of the suicide bomber before the attack.
