Police and rescue services have left for the site of the incident.
According to initial reports, a bomb was planted on a parked motorcycle outside a mosque in Jannat Gul Town.
The blast took place when people were leaving the mosque after attending Asr prayers.
The injured have been shifted to a nearby private hospital.
The Super Highway and other surrounding roads have been blocked for traffic, Geo News reported.
Karachi has been at the centre of extreme violence in the past year with targeted killings and bomb blasts frequently taking several lives. The bomb blasts targeting security personnel and the minority Shia community in the city have often been claimed by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

If Karachi was in control of its local people this would not have happened.
First and foremost, we wish a quick and speedy recovery to those who have been injured in this blast. The city of Karachi continues to experience a surge in violence. The terrorists have been on a mission to destabilize the region and the city of Karachi has been one of their main targets. These terrorists have no regard for human lives and have no remorse in taking innocent lives. We fully support the Pakistani government in its fight against the extremist organizations. We share a common vision in regards to defeating terrorism. This is the time to stand united and combine our strength for the sake of restoring peace in the region.

Democracy without abolishing feudal system is not democracy.It is lootocracy in guise of democracy supported by either oppurtunists who benifit by lootocracy or idealists who have no idea for ground realities.
@Conspiracy theorist: You are right. But you must also question why the Army did not step in even if it was raining death in Karachi. Army never waited for an invitation before. So there arises the question of material interests of the Army , the biggest corporate entity with a large political capital and questionable military stock value. The economy without dollar subsidy, makes neither the money issuing power of central bank nor the stock market , attractive for brass hats. For now they laid their bets on Afghanistan and they dream of pawning it to Chinese.
@SuppressCancelReject : I agree dude.
I know a lot of you will hate me for saying this, but please bring back the martial law. We have had enough of this democracy which has failed in everything. We don't want any more killings. Democracy has not given anything but the most corrupt and incompitant VIPs parading around with several guards.
May Allah Bless Karachi and May all the political and foreign insurgents ROT IN HELL.
