Gas leakage: Woman, two daughters injured

Wali said that his wife was trying to light a fire using matches, when a huge explosion occurred.

HANGU: Three of a family were severely injured in an explosion caused by gas leakage in Sangairh on Tuesday. Emergency in-charge at District Headquarters Hospital Hangu Dr Vilayat Khan said that around 7:30am, a woman and her two daughters were rushed to the emergency unit by Khan Wali, the woman’s husband. Wali said that his wife got up early in the morning and was trying to light a fire using matches, when a huge explosion occurred as there was a leak in the gas pipeline inside  the house. The explosion also caused a fire. The incident caused Wali’s wife and two daughters Yasmina, 7, and Sumaira, 6, to obtain severe burn injuries. Sumaira and her mother have third-degree burns and are in critical condition, while Yasmina, whose hands and legs were burnt, is stable. Dr Wilayat said that they had admitted the victims and would refer them to the burns unit tomorrow (Wednesday).
