Two Frontier Corps (FC) and two Balochistan Constabulary personnel were killed on Monday in separate incidents. One constabulary man was also injured, as well as four FC men in another bomb attack.
The two FC personnel were killed and four others wounded in two attacks in the Mashkey and Hub areas of Balochistan.
According to reports, an FC team was travelling from Mashkey to Quetta when armed men attacked them. The two personnel killed were identified as Saifullah and Shehzad.
When contacted, Balochistan Home Secretary Captain (retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani confirmed the incident. However, he denied that army soldiers were killed in the attack as well.
Meanwhile, a Balochistan Constabulary team passing through the Eastern Bypass area in Quetta was attacked, injuring three personnel. “Two of them succumbed to their injuries while being driven to a hospital,” a police official said.
The victims were shifted to the Civil Hospital where they were identified as Abdul Haleem and Muhammad Arshad. The injured was identified as Yar Muhammad who, according to medics, was in a critical condition.
Separately, a bomb attached to a motorcycle parked at Sakran Road in Hub exploded when an FC convoy passed by. As a result, four FC personnel were injured, and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical aid.
Sources said that some of the men who were critically injured were shifted to Karachi for further treatment.
An FC spokesperson confirmed the incident and said that all of the injured were out of danger.
In another incident, gunmen shot a container truck driver, identified as Muhammad Qasim, in the Saryab Road neighbourhood of Quetta. He died on the spot.
