KARACHI: Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore said that his team will have to show consistency in order to achieve good results against India, ahead of their opening Twenty20 fixture in Bangalore tomorrow.

“I am hopeful of a good performance as Pakistan have prepared well for the series,” said Whatmore. “But there will be the need of consistent performances and we are looking forward to it.”

The coach looked excited about his first assignment with Pakistan playing the series against their traditional rivals.

“We have played India in ICC tournaments, but this will be my first experience, something which I am looking forward to,” he said, before adding that his team was happy to be in India and was upbeat.

The coach also said that he was not feeling the pressure to be in India as Pakistan coach.

“I have worked with players from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Pakistan players are not different as their principles are pretty much the same”.

‘Players comfortable with strict security measures’

Meanwhile, according to a team official, the Pakistan players were unperturbed with the presence of heavy security.

The local authorities have arranged water-tight security that will be in place till the match tomorrow. As per reports, around 5000 security officials have been deployed to ensure security of players and spectators.

“The team is just concentrating on the game,” a team official told The Express Tribune. “These are professional cricketers and they usually face such situations. It’s not an issue and they are comfortable. They are looking forward to a good series.”
