Roadside bomb: FC personal injured in Ghallanai blast

A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier, Shakeel sustained multiple injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Mohmand Agency, according to the political administration of Ghallanai.


Shakeel was said to have been carrying water to the FC check post in Shani Khel when the blast took place. He was immediately shifted to Peshawar.

In the ensuing search operation launched by the political administration and paramilitary forces, 29 local suspects were arrested under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The Peshawar-Mohmand and Bajaur roads remained closed during the five-hour long search operation.

Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan claimed responsibility for the attack via a phone call from an undisclosed location to journalists in Mohmand.

Meanwhile, two jet fighters bombed militant hideouts in Pak Darra, Ghakhi and Surkhas areas of Tirah Valley and Khyber Agency resulting in the death of two militants while two others were injured.

According to a political administration official of Ghakhi, Farhad Afridi, the hideouts were first bombed at around 4am on Saturday. He added that militants were killed and injured when the hideout was bombarded again at 11am.

Two hideouts of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were also destroyed in the bombings.
