India skipper MS Dhoni showered praise on Yuvraj Singh for his all-round performance against England in Thursday’s Twenty20 International, according to the BBC.

Yuvraj took three wickets for 19 runs in his four overs and was the top-scorer for his team with 38 off 21 deliveries, leading India to win the match by five wickets.

“Yuvraj was brilliant,” said Dhoni. “He bowled really well at the right pace. And he made sure the batsmen coming in after him didn’t have too much work to do. The way Alex Hales started [the England opener scored 56 from 35 balls], the pressure was on the bowlers.  So it was important from the eighth over that we brought the team back into game, once the ball became slightly old.”

Meanwhile, England captain Eoin Morgan admitted that his side’s batting left much to be desired.

“We lacked a bit of discipline with our batting, ended up 15 or 20 runs short,” said Morgan. “We didn’t get the early wickets either. But we have a young side and the guys showed a lot of promise tonight. We’ve to pick ourselves up for the second match.”
