Fake order sheet: PHC orders immediate arrest of HED officials

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed officials from the anti-corruption department to immediately arrest Higher Education Department (HED) officials accused of drafting a fake court order.

A stay order against recruitment over some vacant posts was forged. When PHC Chief Justice (CJ) Dost Muhammad Khan was informed about the situation, he directed the anti-corruption department (ACD) to investigate the matter. The CJ also asked for an inquiry report to be submitted before court.

During a hearing on Tuesday, ACD Deputy Director Adam Khan informed the CJ and Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth about their investigation and said that they have filed an FIR against accused Deputy Director Ghulam Ali along with junior clerks Zaheer Ahmad and Nadeem Khan and another citizen accused of presenting the fake order.

However, Adam added that since the HED’s deputy director is a Grade-18 officer, the chief secretary’s approval will be needed for the arrest.

The CJ ordered to arrest them without any prior approval. “This is a judicial order and you do not need approval from the chief secretary. Arrest him before he appeals for bail,” he said, adding that anyone can be arrested irrespective of their designation. The case hearing was adjourned for January 10.
