Germany leads the recent flow of aid into the country as German public raises $110 million for flood relief.

German public gives $110m for flood relief

Donations from the German public for flood relief increased to over $110 million as per latest statistics gathered from various German relief and humanitarian organizations on Wednesday.

All major German relief and humanitarian organisations have received substantial funds as a result of an upsurge in donations by the public and the German corporate sector, said a message received from Berlin.

Appeals for donations by the German leadership and intensive coverage of the floods by the German media raised awareness of the catastrophe and the need to contribute funds for the welfare of the flood victims.

Japan sends more relief goods

Additional relief goods worth of $240,000 from Japan arrived in Multan on Wednesday.

A press release issued by the Japanese embassy said that the additional relief goods consist of 1,500 tents and 1,000,000 water purification tablets.

Bangladesh announce $2 million in assistance

The Bangladesh government on Wednesday announced $2 million in relief assistance for Pakistan.

One million dollars will be spent on the visit of about 38 doctors and paramedics, who will arrive in Pakistan to work in Thatta and Hyderabad. The remaining $1 million will be spent on the procurement of medicines, food supplies, blankets, tents and other relief items.

The Swiss give helicopters

Switzerland is giving its last Alouette III helicopters to Pakistan in flood rescue work, the government announced on Wednesday.

The helicopters were due to be taken out of service at end of the year, but the first will now be sent to Pakistan later this month, delivered by cargo planes of Pakistan Air Force.

The Swiss government decided in August to give Pakistan three machines which were already out of operation, but it has now decided to give the remaining seven as well.

Religious groups in Singapore collect for Pakistan

The Singaporean religious communities, Jamiyah Singapore, Buddhist Lodge Singapore and Taoist Federation jointly collected donations for the Prime Minister Flood Relief Fund to show their solidarity with the flood victims.

In a week long fund-raising campaign they collected $105,350.

Malaysia donates Rs340 million

Malaysian Palm Oil Council has shown intentions to donate Rs340 million to Pakistan to provide palm based food items to the flood affected people of Pakistan.
