Rash driving: Wagon runs over two minors

RAWALPINDI: Two minors were killed after being hit by a wagon near a bus terminal at Pirwadhai More early on Sunday morning. Muneeba Munir, 1, and Kainat Rafique, 12, died on the spot after being hit. Three other people were injured. The driver abandoned the wagon and fled from the scene. The vehicle was impounded by the Naseerabad police. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Khizer Hayat said the accident occurred as soon as the family stepped out of a taxi. They were there to catch a Peshawar-bound bus. Witness accounts indicate that the accident happened because of speeding and rash driving, Hayat said. He added that the family was on the side of the road and were hit after the wagon went off road. Major (retd) Tariq Mehmood, Wasim Ahmed and a woman identified as Rani were injured in the accident, ASI Hayat said. “We have taken the wagon into custody and are looking for the driver,” he added.
