KARACHI: The M.A. Jinnah road was closed for vehicular traffic on Friday after members of Shia organisations staged a sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi to protest against targeted attacks on members of their community.

The protest organised by the Shia Ulema Council (SUC) was attended by activists of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), the Shia Action Committee and other organisations.

SUC Sindh chief Maulana Nazir Abbas Taqvi addressed the participants and urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take steps to curb sectarian attacks in the city.

Taqvi said they will continue their protest until the government fulfilled their demands.
