A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his sister and her alleged boyfriend in Kasur earlier in the day. Police say the man had confessed to the crime.
They said they also recovered the weapon used in the crime.
His three accomplices are yet to be arrested.
The case was registered by the man’s mother.
Police said they were informed about a double murder in Dhing Shah area. Khudiaan Station House Officer (SHO) Sheikh Ijaz and his team reached the scene and took the bodies in custody. The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination.
Investigation Officer (IO) Malik Qurban told The Express Tribune that when the police reached the scene, Mukhtar Ahmad Bhatti’s daughter, Ulfat, 24, and a neighbour, Shahzad, 28, were lying dead in a pool of blood. They had both been shot several times, including in the heads.
They said Shahzad was allegedly having an affair with Ultaf.

Ulfat’s father told police that on Friday when his son, Azam, and his friends came home, they found Ulfat and the boy in a “compromising position”. He said his son had gotten furious and shot the two, killing them both on the spot. He said his son had stopped Ulfat from meeting the boy, but she had not listened to her brother. On Friday, he said, she had secretly called Shahzad to her room.
The IO said that three days ago, Shahzad was shot in the foot near his house, allegedly by Ulfat’s brother. However, no one had filed any complaint.
After the murder, Shahzad’s mother, Rasheedan Bibi, filed an FIR against Azam. She also named, Sardar, Aslam and Asif in the complaint. She said that her son was shot and injured a few days ago by Azam. She said they had not filed any complaint as Azam had threatened to kill her son. She said that her son did not have a relationship with Ulfat nor had he gone to her house.
She said she and her son were on their way home on a motorcycle, when the suspects had stopped them near Ulfat’s house. She said they had pushed her off the bike and taken Shahzad inside the house, where they had shot him. They made it look like he was already there, she alleged.
She said some passers-by, who stopped to help her after hearing her scream, had taken her to Ulfat’s house on her directions. By the time she reached, her son had already been shot.
