Security plan chalked out for Eid

The government has devised a security plan ahead of Eid in order to ensure a smooth running of affairs in Gilgit.

GILGIT: The provincial government has devised a security plan ahead of Eidul Fitr in order to ensure a smooth running of affairs in Gilgit, which has witnessed sectarian unrest during the past few weeks.

“Gilgit has been divided into zones and each zone has been placed under a senior police officer,” said an official on the condition of anonymity. The security plan has been approved by Chief Minister Mehdi Shah. In addition to police, squads of paramilitary rangers and Gilgit Scouts will also be deployed.

“Eidgahs and mosques of the major sects have been given top preference in the security plan,” the official said, adding that walk through gates have been placed at the main entrance and exit of these buildings besides heavy deployment of police and other forces. He said that military personnel will guard the army Eidgah.

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply Each and every mosque must have walk-in detector gates through which all Namizis should go through. Federal and all Provincial Governments must make sure that no untowards incident should take place during Namaz-e-Eid, or on the Eid days in the entire country.
