Balochistan violence: Three killed in sectarian attacks
Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claims responsibility; Hindu doctor shot dead in Mastung.

At least three people were killed in sectarian attacks in different neighbourhoods of Quetta on Thursday. Two more persons were killed in violence elsewhere in Balochistan.
Gunmen opened fire at a tailor’s shop in Sirki Kala area, killing Shabbir Ahmed, a Shia community member and hailing from Punjab, according to local police.
Separately, gunmen targeted government servant Gul Shirin on Jinnah Road. In a third incident, armed men shot and injured two members of the Hazara community – Taj Muhammad and Khan Ali – on Shahrah-e-Iqbal Road. Khan Ali expired while being driven to a hospital.
Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani ordered the police top brass to arrest the killers within the next 24 hours. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi sectarian outfit claimed responsibility for all three attacks.
The Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council condemned the murder of Shia community members and announced countrywide protest demonstrations on Friday.
Panjgur airport manager killed
Panjgur airport Manager Yasir Arafat was shot dead in the city’s Chetkhan Bazaar area on Thursday. According to police, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Arafat’s vehicle while he was on his way home from the airport, killing him on the spot.
Arafat belonged to Lahore according to Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Pervez George, suggesting a likely motive behind his killing.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Civil Aviation Officers Association condemned the incident and demanded the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
Hindu doctor gunned down
In Mastung, Hindu doctor Lakshmi Chand was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Thursday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Dr Tufail Baloch, the assailants opened fire on Chand while he was en route to his clinic, killing him on the spot. He added that the slain doctor had also escaped a kidnapping attempt two months back.
Condemning Dr Chand’s killing, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Santosh Kumar hit out at the government for its failure to provide security to the Hindu community.
