Next general elections: PTI wants to be consulted on caretaker setup

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday to include it in consultations for formulating the caretaker setup for the upcoming general elections.

According to an official statement, PTI chairman Imran Khan also handed over evidence regarding pre-poll rigging by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with his plea for including the party in the consultation process, during a visit to the ECP office in Islamabad.

Following his meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, Imran told reporters that both parties were using state resources to lure political leaders to their fold, adding that politicians whose loyalties could be bought were welcome to leave PTI. He alleged that both PPP and PML-N were spending excessive money on development projects in their constituencies as well.

Criticising parliamentarians for not filing their taxes, he asked them to declare their actual assets. Only the rich can contest elections in Pakistan, he maintained, adding that millions were being spent on rounding up voters and taking them to polling stations.

Reposing full confidence in CEC Ebrahim, Imran said the former would “leave no stone unturned to ensure free, fair and transparent general elections.”

@up for a change:

Up for a change it seems you dont go through the news...It's the 20th amendment where the caretaker is to be formed through mutual consultation of the government and opposition..meaning those who are in the "Parliament"....that is why i hate the PTI they have no background check up on facts and just delivers their sermons...
