Soldiers among six killed in Khuzdar road crash

Bus with 72 passengers was travelling from Quetta to Karachi, collided with an oil tanker.

At least six people, including four security personnel, were killed and 16 others were injured when a passenger coach collided with an oil tanker in Khuzdar, some 340 kilometres away from Quetta, on Tuesday.


Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mansoor Kakar told The Express Tribune that the passenger coach was on its way from Khuzdar to Karachi when it hit the oil tanker which was coming from the opposite direction in the Weer area of Wadh tehsil.

The rescue team said that around 10 people were killed in the accident; however, Kakar only confirmed six deaths.

According to a source in Khuzdar, four Pakistan Army soldiers were killed, while nine others sustained injuries in the accident. “The security personnel were on vacation and were on the way from Khuzdar to Karachi in the passenger coach,” he said.

The injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Khuzdar for treatment. Nine of them are stated to be in a critical condition and have been referred to Quetta. The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Akram, Liaquat Ali, Noorullah, Ibadat Ali, Mohammad Zahir, coach driver Bashir Ahmed and oil tanker driver Mohammad Hayat.
