KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas has directed the excise and customs department to devise a strategy, in collaboration with the home department and police authorities, to resolve the issue of unregistered and unfit vehicles in the province. He said this at a meeting on Tuesday. IGP Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari said that the laws must be amended as the decades old ‘challan’ system needs to be modified so that proper action can be taken against vehicle owners with fancy number plates and tinted glasses. He added that measures must be taken to ensure proper fitness of passenger buses and other vehicles used for public transport. Additional Chief Secretary Home Wasim Ahmed and others attended the meeting.
