Vettel, 25, clinched the 2012 title in the Sao Paolo season finale, becoming the youngest triple champion. Hamilton, who once called the German ‘the luckiest driver in F1’ after he finished third in Abu Dhabi after starting from the pit lane, expects more of the same brilliance from the Red Bull driver next season.
“It’s going to be hard to beat Sebastian next year,” said Hamilton. “I think he’s going to have another amazing year. His car was fantastic and I’m sure it’s going to be even better next year.”
Hamilton, who bade farewell to McLaren this week and will join Mercedes for next season, said that he is excited about his new adventure with the German manufacturer.
“I like that people know that I’m a racer and I’m a winner. I want to win. That’s my goal. I can’t wait to get my hands on the car and just try to work as quickly as possible. It doesn’t matter how many days, how many hours it takes. I’m willing to put all the effort in. I feel like I’ve got a new breath of life in me, so I’m ready for it.”
