LAHORE:

A full bench of the Lahore High Court will hear arguments on the maintainability of a petition against President Asif Ali Zardari on December 12.

Proceedings could not be held on Monday as the bench was dissolved, as Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan was absent due to the death of his mother. The bench had been holding proceedings daily.

The federal government’s lawyer Waseem Sajjad had already finished his arguments on the maintainability of the contempt petition.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, was slated to make his arguments.

On Monday, Sajjad filed an application requesting for more time to provide details and extend further arguments before the court.

The contempt petition was moved by Munir Ahmad against the president for holding a political office and engaging in political activities in violation of an LHC full bench order that the president should not participate in politics.
