MITHI:

More than 100 polling stations located in remote areas cannot be accessed by the residents of nearby villages, concluded the executive committee of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Tharparkar on Monday.

The committee’s president, MNA Dr Mahesh Malani, had asked members to prepare a list of bogus polling stations. According to the committee members, some of the stations are located more than 15 kilommetres away from the main villages but had a high number of votes cast.

“The Arbabs [former chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and his brothers] have been winning seats in Tharparkar by rigging the polls,” an official claimed. They complained that the assistant commissioner of Tharparkar had ignored the Supreme Court directives to set up new polling stations in villages with more than 250 residents or located 25 kilometres away from other stations.
