Leopard attack: Woman injured trying to save herself

A woman was injured and hospitalised when a leopard attacked her in a remote village of Jabar Devli.

MANSEHRA: A woman was injured and hospitalised when a leopard attacked her in a remote village of Jabar Devli.

This was the second incident in which a human was attacked by the animal that has also made a number of cattle its prey during the last few months. According to the details provided by residents of Jabar Devli village, Alaf Janay, 45, was busy collecting firewood in the forest when a leopard leapt at her.

Fortunately, some villagers were grazing their cattle in the vicinity and heard her shout for help. They managed to scare the animal who ran away, leaving Devli critically injured. She was rushed to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. Devli suffered multiple scratches on her arms and body when she attempted to guard herself from the ferocious animal. Her condition is now stated to be out of danger. A wildlife official said that there are scores of leopards in the hilly areas of Mansehra district.
