Violence roundup: Former UC Nazim among seven killed

Union council Nazim Intisar Alvi gets shot and killed while sitting at a teashop near his home in Gulbahar.

Former union council Nazim, 40-year-old Intisar Alvi, was among the seven people who were killed on Saturday.


Alvi was shot dead in a targeted attack in Jahangirabad when he was sitting at a teashop near his home in Petal Wali Gali, Gulbahar. DSP Rustam Khattak said that two men shot Alvi three times. Activities in Gulbahar and its surrounding areas were partially disturbed as extra contingents of law enforcers were called as precaution.

Ali Gul, 50, was gunned down by two men near Super Highway where he was running a paan shop. Police suspect that the killing was over land dispute.

The body of a young man was found from bushes within the limits of Malir Cantt police station. Police believe that the deceased was kidnapped and later shot dead. The body was shifted to Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification.

A woman

In Saddar, 50-year-old Munira Banu was killed when three armed men tried to rob a jewelry shop. DSP Malik Mohammad Ehsan said that the men planned to rob the shop but escaped after the owner pushed security alarm. The woman was shot once in her leg as the suspects opened fire while trying to flee but could not survive her injury.

Khursheed Ahmed, 40, was shot dead in Ayub Goth. Police believe he was killed over personal enmity.

A member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, 40-year-old Mohammad Abid, was shot dead in a targeted attack near Gol market, Paposh Nagar.

Iqbal Saeed, 30, was shot dead near Sufi Chowk in Old City while he was at his shop.
