Officers suspended for losing weapons to robbers

Police officers open fire at criminals, but end up losing their weapons.

Two police officers were suspended on Saturday for losing their weapons to a gang of robbers after an encounter at Jacobabad bypass.


According to reports, Nisar Brohi was driving to Ahmed Ali Brohi village when a gang of robbers attempted to snatch his vehicle near the bypass. He offered resistance but was dragged out of the vehicle and beaten up by the gang.

After hearing the commotion, villagers cordoned off the area and called the police. Theere was an exchnage of fire between the robbers and police when the former opened fire at a Saddar police mobile when it reached the spot. Two police officers, Sher Mohammad and Abdul Fatah, approached the criminals but were overpowered by them and the robbers fled with the officers’ weapons.

Jacobabad SSP Younis Chandio suspended the officers, while Saddar DSP Shoukat Rind led a contingent to capture the robbers. Rind told The Express Tribune that one sub machine gun and a semi automatic rifle were snatched from the officers, adding that he was hopeful that the robbers would be caught soon and the weapons recovered. Chandio could not be reached for comment. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
