The Indian media, however, has alleged that the Pakistani captain consumed detergent water, not acid and accused Pakistani media of blowing the issue out of proportion.
Captain Zeeshan Abbasi – who is leading the country in the Blind Twenty 20 series underway in Banglore – consumed the hazardous substance from a bottle on his table.
“The mineral water bottles were given to us everyday; the acid was in one of those bottles,” said the team manager.
The manager said that since the entire team is blind, they did not know that there was acid inside the bottle instead of water.
“How can this be a mistake? How was it on the breakfast table?” he enquired.
Chairman Blind Cricket Council Sultan Shah – speaking to Express News - was shocked by the incident and said that such a thing had never happened before.
Just yesterday, Abbasi led the team to its fourth consecutive win in the tournament, and that too against India. Pakistan beat India by eight wickets.
Why the acid was placed on his table or who put it there is under investigation, said the chairman.
Abbasi was shifted to a hospital where he is under treatment he confirmed, adding that they had an argument with the hotel management over the incident.
The hotel management has assured the chairman that they will check through CCTV footage and find the reason behind the incident.
The PBCC has accepted an apology by the hotel administration and has decided to continue playing in the tournament.
One man's mistake not to damage ties
Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket board chairman Zaka Ashraf told reporters in Lahore that Abbasi has been released from hospital after treatment. He added that the Pakistan-India cricket series scheduled for late December will not be affected by this incident.
Ashraf said that initial information about the substance ingested was misreported, and that it was infact washing liquid, and not acid. He added that the hotel management has suspended the erring server.
The Pakistan high commissioner in Delhi has also spoken to the concerned ministry over the incident. The mistake of one man will not affect Pakistan-India relations, nor affect the upcoming bilateral series.

hi its really shocking news.that's not good Praying for the man. May the family know that millions of Pakistanis are behind him.
@Jat Not again please. Blame game from both sides. We were talking about that poor cricketer. Isn’t it time all this was stopped permanently ? You are talking about the ideal situation, which every lay man wants. But its not just Pakistan and India, its the world politics which is involved.
@Asad: No excuse for what happened in Bangalore and no excuse for communal extremists. But repeated terrorist attacks on India do at least two things:
Hurt Pakistan more than India Strengthen the same forces you are talking aboutThe point is, your governments have made it a state policy since 1948 and even as of today they are still clinging to this suicidal path. What do you think happened to Burhanuddin Rabbani ? And what happened to Afghanistan's intelligence chief a few days back ? Isn't it time all this was stopped permanently ?
@Jat People with such thinking does exist in your country as well. So please dont accuse the whole of Pakistan. Second If you don't accept that there are forces in your country, who dont want India Pakistan peace process, then you have to re think. I am too young to say this, but being mature one should refrain using hatred language, no matter what response you are getting.
@Jat Actually, you need only look at the comments of Indians from top to bottom to understand why we can't get along. Here they are somehow trying to prove the point that it was the poor blind person's fault or that it was just a mistake that should be ignored. Such is the collective thinking of Indians.
Some Pakistani brothers have started blaming Hindus for the error. Well done Pakistan. This is exactly what I expected from you guys. Keep up the good work.
@Asad: KARACHI: Pakistani cricket chiefs said Sunday they were happy with arrangements for their side’s tour of India later this month – the arch-rivals’ first series for five years. A four-member Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) delegation returned home after inspecting the five venues where the hotly-anticipated one-day and Twenty20 clashes will rekindle one of the greatest rivalries in world sport. “India is eagerly waiting to host the Pakistan team,” PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar said on his return. “We are satisfied with the arrangements put in place and hope that it will be a fantastic series.”
Now who do we believe ? Your four member delegation, or the kiddos here ?
@Jat: so washing liquid is ok to be put in glass....OK...go to Hotel Taj and ask waiter to serve you with washing liquid.....we will see if you can take a sip .... acid or no acid....this was truly obnoxious.....that too to do it to a blind....are you a human....???
shameless indians turning aman ki asha into aman ki acid.
@Jat Lets see what happens next. I will wait for the investigation result.
We Pakistanis are quick to pounce on the Indians for the slightest of provocations. This is pathetic. The incident is unfortunate but we do not know the whole truth yet. Let the Indian and Pakistani team managers do their respective jobs. I am sure they will be diligent and get to the bottom of this.
Everyone knows how badly our two countries are trying to make amends for the lost 65 years. Please give them a chance.
@Yoghurt lover: First Pakistani media has lied that this Pakistani guy drank "ACID". It was just some kind of soap. Pakistan should have sent some helpers for these blind players. Incidence should be properly investigated and person(s) responsible should be punished.
As a British Pakistani, I have been watching the Pak TV channels over-reacting and sensationalising the whole saga.
Within 24 hours, you clearly see Zeeshan discharged from the hospital in seemingly good health. Given the time of his release and his condition, I am inclined to think that he did NOT drink acid, otherwise, it can take between 72 hours to two weeks for even the smallest amounts of acid to be detoxed from the lymphatic system and certain vital organs, lest they are damaged and the hospital would have kept him for a longer observation period. @yoghurt lover Your remark about Zeeshan taking detergent to 'cleanse his bowel pounds of undigested beef meat' is quite crude and uncalled for, given the sensitivity of the issue. Pakistanis are by most, not mainly 'beef eaters'. Especially, if one is a sport's person, as beef is classified a heavy meat and takes a very long time for your digestive tract to break down the proteins.
@Terry: If you feel it that way, insinuating that this was probably an attempt on the poor man’s life, then you should refrain from coming to India, and let your cricket team stay at home. They are, in fact, too eager to come to India, as your PCB chairman has time and again said and, metaphorically speaking, gone down on his knees to resume cricket ties with India. We Indians can give our best to our guests (if they behave like guests and not like crazy lunatics and terrorists!). The bottle placed at the table and consumed by the unsuspecting Pakistani cricketer, (it did not contain acid as, otherwise, the poor victim would have instantly died) was an honest human error with no malintentions. The incident has been sensationalized by some Paki religious elements and hyped up by some sections of the media in Pakistan. However, if you feel insecure about coming to India, you should stay back. The English team -- and before it, many other teams - are currently touring India and enjoying their game of cricket. They are safe and well taken care in the best tradition of Indian hospitality. The team -- like the Aussies, the New Zealanders, the West Indies and even Bangladeshis -- is having a great time, as it has struck a winning streak against India, a fact cricketing viewers in India do not grude. Indeed, we are losing against the English team and are more than happy to congratulate the winners. Wish Pakistani cricketers and fans would also behave in the same manner. Your country, known for the terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team, lacks the decency to be honest about its intentions. That is the biggest reason why international cricket teams, including from India, are avoiding Pakistan like the pest. On the other hand, Indians don’t want you or your cricketers on our soil. Nor does the rest of the world -- sorry to say and hurt feelings of those decent Pakistanis who can see through the manipulations being pulled here by some vested interests in Pakistan.
Tragic! I just wonder that why was the phenyl just said to be in a water bottle. The poor man is blind and wouldn't know which ever bottle there may be. I wouldn't do a blame game or try to create any logic but was the hotel provided by the Pakistani authorities SO substandard that they leave phenyl just like that, atleast they should have been looked after in a better way but hope for the best for Zeeshan
@Harshvardhan sharma: What a pathetic explanation.....
May I compliment Cartoonjat for perhaps the best destruction of any troll I have seen on ET to date.
Truly Untolerated behaviour of PBCC, if this was done in pakistan to indian cricket team this would call a war from them but curse u pakistani leaders.. u don't even to cater for the lives of those who work for our country's name and progress
@Salman:
If you feel it that way, insinuating that this was probably an attempt on the poor man's life, then you should refrain from coming to India, and ask your cricket team to stay at home. We Indians can give our best to our guests (if they behave like guests and not like crazy lunatics and terrorists!). The bottle placed at the table (it did not contain acid, as you maintain, but some detergent as hotel staff confirmed), was an honest human error with no mal-intentions, but if you Pakis are going to react in this manner, it is better you stay back. Indians don't want you or your cricketers on our soil. Indian cricketers will not like to come to your country -- nor any other team from anywhere in the world.
@CartoonJat: well you should thank me for bringing you up XD
PATHETIC INDIOTS. Is any one going to investigate this and bring the culprits to justice.
Pakistan should pull out of any further sports event with India until Indian government guarantees a fool proof security
As far as I know, acids cannot be kept in plastic bottles as plastic corrode easily. What is more important than arguing if it was acid or detergent is to take this incidence seriously and investigate it thoroughly. Just sacking the employee is not sufficient and may even be unnecessary if that was all the training his was given by the hotel management.
@Lala Gee: "Hydroflouric acid is a very potent acid even in very small quantities, and in diluted concentrations tastes somewhat like a citrus preparation. Only one sip of it is enough to dissolve the body tissues and destroy the nervous system."
And tis is relevant - how? It wasn't hydrofluoric acid. It was phenyl - which had been used for cleaning and inadvertently left on the table.
@Cartoon Jat: It is good of you that by using my name after yours, you have accepted that I am your father. Will your son be named Cartoonson Jat ?
Stop crying Jat and get out some time. Jeez. All you ever do is whine on in the comments section on ET and manipulate the thumbs up by clearing your cache. Your gonna croak it soon old man. Enjoy life. haha
look at those pakis crying for small things......shamme n pak media to exaggerate a small issue....lol.......keep whining pakis.....nobody's listening
This is true and By Birth, A criminal Mentality of Hindus. What a coward nation! Don't even spare a Blind Pakistani. Folks , this is the level of an Ordinary Indian Hindu. Do not be fooled by " Aman ki Asha". The true Hindu mentality, Is this. What a 3rd class Nation!!
poor guy pakistan loves u
“The mineral water bottles were given to us everyday; the acid was in one of those bottles,” said the team manager.
The manager said that since the entire team is blind, they did not know that there was acid inside the bottle instead of water.
“How can this be a mistake? How was it on the breakfast table?” he enquired.
What rubbish^ ?The most pro india Pakistan relations newspaper in the country is rubbishing your feeble attempt to cover your countrymens pathetic action. That is what!
Long Live "AMAN KI ASHA"........................................................................ Wat ppl like MARVI SARMAD, NUSRAT JAVED, NAJAM SETHI, SANA BUCHA and the rest of SAFMA Brigade has to say about this unprecedented gesture of love extended by the Indians.
And for those Pakistanis who are talking about cancelling Pakistan's tour of India. I'd say, very good.
We never wanted this in the first place. it was a decision by greedy/corrupt BCCI.
Pakistan should not come to India until people like Hafeez Saeed are put behind bars.
If somebody drinks acid, he would have died at the spot. That was just detergent water. The blind cricketer might have experienced some diarrhea. ISI is trying to spread misinformation to sabotage India-Pak peace talk and cricket diplomacy.
@Tauheed Syed who writes "you arrogant, thick headed Indian, you are an Insane Hindustani you desperatly need mental asylum and we are very much happy to provide you with one because you and your complxed nation desperatly need One."
I am neither arrogant nor thick headed (Never heard of that expression before).
Do you deny the fact that the media told LIES that he drank acid instead of detergent water?
Do you deny the fact that the media told LIES that he was critical, while he was not even serious and he was released from the hospital within hours?
Do you deny the fact that you Pakistanis who are mentally imbalanced did not even try to verify the facts and jumped to conclusion?
Pakistani media should issue an apology for misleading a country of already mentally imbalanced 180 million.
On a lighter note : If he has really drunk detergent water, it is good for him, it will cleanse his bowel pounds of undigested beef meat.
@Asad: @Jat You know why it happened, just to stop Pakistani team touring India
Asad, I also made couple of comments before that. Let me repeat, if anyone has done this deliberately to cancel the tour, or any other reason, that person will be caught and punished.
shame.shame.shame.shame on u INDIA.an eyeopener for all aman ki aasha ppl....true face of india....v dnt need sport ties with india on behalf of lives of national heroes...
ET top lines: The captain of Pakistan’s blind cricket team, who was shifted to a hospital in critical condition after he drank acid from a bottle which was supposed to contain water
PCB report: Pakistan cricket board chairman Zaka Ashraf told reporters in Lahore that Abbasi has been released from hospital after treatment. He added that the Pakistan-India cricket series scheduled for late December will not be affected by this incident.
Ashraf said that initial information about the substance ingested was misreported, and that it was infact washing liquid, and not acid.
Now Pakistanis go back, just go back. If you have any shame left, cancel the tour and go back. Please leave us alone.
If no one has done this before, let me apologize that this incident happened in India. I think it is a grave mistake by the hotel to allow its staff to carry harmful and toxic substances in improper containers. These substances should always be in their properly identifiable containers with foolproof lids. And these should never, never be left unattended. This incident can again repeat itself, to a kid or under insufficient lighting. I suggest that the Karnataka government should shut down this hotel for not following proper safety practices - and issue strict guidelines to other hotels to avoid similar incidents.
@Yoghurt lover:
you arrogant, thick headed Indian, you are an Insane Hindustani you desperatly need mental asylum and we are very much happy to provide you with one because you and your complxed nation desperatly need One.
PBCC accepts hotel management's apology. Decides to continue playing in the tournament.
Pakistanis what is this ? If you have any shame left, cancel this tour, all the future tours and call your team back. Right now... show some ghairat... Today we will see the real face of the Pakistanis.
@Jat You know why it happened, just to stop Pakistani team touring India, and now you too want the same. Lets see what happens next? I see something, some incident may be and then India blame Pakistan, tour cancelled. Kudos to Indians who dont want peace, huh.
Disgraceful yet not unexpected. There should be a criminal investigation. The hotel should be sued. It goes to the captains credit that they got off too easy
@Oh Please who writes " If you have the ”balls” to criticise Pakistan when it’s wrong, you should be able to stand up for this as well."
What rubbish!
Can't you see it was a mistake by a hotel staff? It's as simple as that.
He was not even seriously hurt. It was not acid as reported, it turned out to be diluted phenyl. He is not even serious, let alone critical as reported by your sensationalist media. No critical person is released within hours of hospitalization. He is perfectly fine now and your manager has accepted the apology from the hotel and your captain is back in the hotel, quite well.
Get the facts straight instead of twisting the facts like you Pakistanis always do whether it is Ojhri explosion, Red Mosque or Kargil or Zia's death.
@Zaid Hamid, for once, your sarcasm is not required. This is a sad incident, who's blame falls entirely on Indians for poisoning a blind man's drink. The Indians may try to play down this incident, but it's shameful nonetheless. try being helpful. I often ''like'' your comments but this is pathetic. And although Express Tribune did not print my previous comment, I'd like to ask where G Din, Zalim Singh and the rest of the Indian nationalist, Pakistanphobic, nationalist, bigoted posse were? If you have the ''balls'' to criticise Pakistan when it's wrong, you should be able to stand up for this as well.
India is declaring itself as a "TERRORIST"
This is case of HATE CRIME against humanity . Shame on u India poor Managment . Millions of Pakistani are with u Zeeshan Abassi ..PRAY FOR UR HEALTH
Pakistanis have completely gone mad.
I used to say 180 million failed Pakistanis. But you are 180 million mentally imbalanced Pakistanis, who cannot distinguish between an accident and a deliberate action.
Get well. Come to India, if you don't get sound treatment in Pakistan.
Something terribly wrong did take place. We should investigate thoroughly, make the report public, and take suitable action against the offender.
Now to all the other things that Pakistanis are saying, my answer - cancel the tour and call your team back. Cancel all your future tours. Do not come to India, who knows who might make you drink acid. Do not allow your artists, musicians, actors, actresses to come to India. For good measure, break diplomatic ties, recall your diplomatic staff and stop all to and fro travel between India. Break all links.
All of you are liars; if you really mean what you are typing here then please please leave us alone. Go and interact with your Arab relatives. We Indians, will be most relieved if we have nothing to do with Pakistan. I dare you...
Boy! now I can see how Pakistanis manufacture facts and news...I really liked what happened here...Some people lied to each other and now they all are ready to explode...hahaha...while they are busy playing who-is-more-irrational, the captain has been discharged for drinking SOAP WATER (not ACID)...even the captain was visibly apologetic for his innocent mistake...but as speak I am sure some Pakistani must be getting ready to explode somewhere...hahahaha...
ISI behind this to malign India. We need to find out the embedded ISI mule in the Pak blind team.
This is why I don't understand why Pakistanis are so nice to Indians when Indians visit Pakistan. Pakistanis go out of the way whilst when a Pakistani visits India they are treated with great malice and suspicion. This act on the blind cricketer is pure evil. Those Indian thugs who did it should be punished but it will never happen. I know evil exists everywhere in this world, but this was really the lowest acts I have ever seen. Shame on Indians on letting this happen.
what great shame to put ACID infront of a BLIND person and come up with lame excuses and avoid facing the media screw u india cant u just accept defeat gracefully freakshows i mean how could u even think of doing this even if he was the captain he was BLIND FOR GODSAKES such inhuman actions cant beleive my eyes the entire world should be known of this
This incident accidently reveals that India is building chemical weapons. We warn UN to take strongest action against India.
This is absolutely an attempted murder case, a gruesome hate crime. With this, Indians have shown their culture to the whole world.
Shocking that they feed their blind guests acid. I guess England team would be well advised to be very careful what they consume in India now, considering the hiding they have been inflicting on the native team.
Wish the guy a speedy recovery. To think that Indians made such hue and cry when Afridi said they don't have big hearts. But Afridi has been proven right time and time again since then. Shame on Indians.
Friendship and Trade with India, in the name of” WHAT? ”.Since the sporting ties has widely been promoted and branded as a tool to bridge the gap between the two nations. But this has been very convincingly proved wrong by the Indians, since yesterday with two very disturbing incidents emanating from the game of Cricket only, (leave alone other areas of Co-operation) first one was an attempt to Poison the Captain of Pakistan’s Blind Cricket team Captain Zeeshan Abbasi which is a clear indication of an arrogant Indian mindset and their superiority complex which compels them to take this extreme action after they have lost a cricket match to Pakistan and that too, in India ( which is indeed by far the most complex and confused nation on earth) and second one is an attempt to disgrace and Humiliate our “PAKISTAN” and our Nationals in India, when M.S. Dhoni an arrogant Indian Insulted, Humiliated and Manhandled our Pakistani umpire “Aleem Dar”? during the 3rd test match being played in Calcutta between Hindustan and England, these two incidents gave birth to various questions such as , where is the impotent ICC? Or is it the yes Man of BCCI? Why Dhoni and the BCCI is not being Punished or Penalized for their unruly behavior against the Pakistani Player and its Umpire? Why not the ICC and the match referee did not take any action against this arrogant Indian and Cricket board? And why not any punitive action is being taken against Dhoni either by ICC or BCCI as yet? Now I guess It’s now up to the PCB who should and must stand up and act now and lodge the strongest possible protest with both the governing bodies, or if no apologies are being offered either by BCCI or ICC over these two incidents then this means that there is no adequate security arrangements in Place for Pakistan’s National side which is to tour India within this month and PCB should immediately Cancel this upcoming cricket series against India in India.ICC should also not forget that the safety of the players is always been the top priority of ICC all along, always and at all times, at least this what they have always very strongly emphasized in the past in case of Pakistan and this the very same ICC which is in the past declared Pakistan “dangerous place for cricket”. Now the question is, in case of Aleem Dar who is indeed one of its elite umpire whose being attacked in India while wearing an ICC Cap and who is a professional who has won the world’s best Umpire award thrice, will be provided with an adequate security by the ICC in India? And will this unruly Indian behavior be tolerated and whether be treated as an attack on ICC and its Authority over the game of Cricket or not? I guess only time and timely action on the part of the ICC would clear the air as this incident is not against a Pakistan, but real juicy slap on the face of the ICC by the BCCI, way to go ICC.
They can stoop to any level. Am I surprised? Hell, no.
cancel the indian tour now!!!!
@Feroz:
"I wonder which is this Acid that tastes like water".
Hydroflouric acid is a very potent acid even in very small quantities, and in diluted concentrations tastes somewhat like a citrus preparation. Only one sip of it is enough to dissolve the body tissues and destroy the nervous system.
On behalf of all the authorities, I'd like to apologize to all of Pakistan and humanity. This is indeed a very unfortunate incident but before we jump to conclusions, we need to understand and take into account the complete picture. When the incident took place, the housekeeping was going on. The table was being cleaned and the detergent used for cleaning purpose was kept on the table. As it happened to be, the bottle which contained the detergent resembled a mineral water bottle and the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team Captain mistook it to be a mineral water bottle. As the housekeepers were busy with their work, they failed to notice that Abbasi tried to consume it. But Abbasi did not consume it and spat it out as soon as he put the liquid in his mouth. This was nothing serious and in no way a lapse of security or attempt to murder. He had been rushed to hospital immediately and also an endoscopy was performed. The results say that Abbasi is fine and there is nothing serious. The best medical treatment shall be given to him inshallah. In fact Abbasi is fit to play in tthe semi finals. I accept that the housekeepers must have not kept the bottle on the table and must have been more careful. The person sent to do do housekeeping has already been sacked. My country, India, has historically been a land of justice and it shall be delivered once again, inshallah. May Allah bless Abbasi and everyone with best of health. Ameen. Also, I request the media to give a complete picture and not make any sensational headlines.
PS: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said that he could smell fragrance from "hind", meaning Hindustan.
Pakistanis cannot accept the truth.
They want everything to be a conspiracy.
Grow up. This was an accident. diluted phenyl never killed anyone unless consumed in large quantities to commit suicide.
You Pakistanis should be ashamed of yourself for lying and blowing things out of proportion.
The captain is fine. He has even been released from the hospital. He was never critical, as reported by the media.
waisay on second thought - "It was not acid, he mistakenly drank it "Neat"" in jeet ki khushee !!!!
Neat neat hotee haey, chahey acid ho ya ..... !!!! Sardar Aslam Raeesani
P.S. and all my fellow Pakistanis jin ki dil azaree hooee from these remarks, please refer to my earlier comments too :)
@Yogurt lover: I am sure they were they staying in a 5 star hotel where such negligence is impossible. Phenyl in water bottles? Which century you guys live in? I thought we were backward! As to your question why he couldn't smell it, may be he was on a suicide mission, after all we only beat you with 8 wickets! Get a life!!
“How can this be a mistake? How was it on the breakfast table?” he enquired.
People use mineral water bottles with small pin-holes on the lid for keeping detergent water, phenyl etc. As it comes in handy while cleaning. The cleaning staff must have left it on the table, after cleaning the room.
It wasn't even acid.
Now the question has to be asked, how come the cricketer did not smell detergent or phnyl, both of which have strong smell?
Lol at you@Yoghurt lover:
Shows Indian sportsman spirit. Served acid to a blind man. Pathetic. Simply Pathetic.
@Pessimist: "What a deplorable act. "
I think anyone including all of us Indians would agree that this is unfortunate and unacceptable. Deplorable implies that this was deliberate. When the hotel F&B manager says cleaning liquid was inadvertently left on the table, why would you assume that this was deliberate? Please also read Sonam Shyam's post that addresses the conspiracy theories.
Certainly incompetence is not justifiable and concerned person should be held accountable. More importantly the operating procedures should be reviewed to prevent recurrence. However to directly attribute hate crime as a motive seems unreasonable and is inconsistent with your general tenor which is fair.
I hope he recovers fully
This is horrible. There is no question of shoving it under the carpet. Whether deliberate or unintentional, I am sure Indian authorities will fully investigate and ensure concerned people brought to justice.
My guess based on the fact that this was some cleaning liquid is that this was incompetence - still unacceptable of course but not the same as a hate crime.
"The Hindu" quotes the Senior Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel as saying that it was diluted soap solution left inadvertently on the table by the cleaning staff.
From personal experience I know that empty mineral water bottles are often indeed used for this purpose in restaurants, trains and offices (however careless and unprofessional this may be). It is much more likely that this is what indeed happened, and that there is no "conspiracy" involved!
Anyway the inquiry that is underway should bring out the facts.
This is so sad and a complete investigation must reveal the truth +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ But it cannot be difficult to trace the origin of the acid and the finger prints on the bottle. Pls wait till the results are out.India has rule of law unlike Pakistan. Let there be no doubt about that.
Though the incident is highly unfortunate but kindly read other part of the story as well. India is not a country that take pride in killing a sports person irrespective of his country. This is an accident and should be looked only from that aspect He drank diluted phenyl which was being used by the cleaning staff and kept accidentally on the table. Though Phenol is acidic it is widely used cleaning agent as well. He is treated and discharged as well. Please come out of victimhood mentality and start analyzing more rationally. World and more precisely India has better things to do than conspiring to attack Pakistan with Phenyl
I am so shameful to be an Indian right now,,, I apologize to all Pakistanis on behalf of Indian ppl, this criminal act is highly condenmable. I cant believe my Indian fellows will fall to this level. Its so shameful for India for what they did.
surprise surprise, we Pakistanis are not the only psychopaths as always pointed by our dear enlighten broad minded neighbor.
What a deplorable act. Oh well, I will console myself by watching England humiliate India, on their own home ground ;)
I wonder if they're now going to give ALISTAIR COOK acid too?
A few more wickets to go before England inflict Indias first innings test defeat at eden gardens since 1983,
LOVING IT :-)
@Yoghurt lover:
We should not feel shy of visiting our teachers and all other available sources for updated knowledge! Unfortunately your limited knowledge force you to say that acids are odorless, that really suggest your elementary school level knowledge. Please Google after putting your scratchy goggles away, you will find numerous acids with pungent smell.
If the same ever happened to an Indian in Pakistan. Pakistan would have been blamed, who so ever would have poisoned, Indian or Pakistani. so why not blame them too. After all the team members were their guests. Special care, checks and balances should have been anyways for the blind, right from the beginning.
@Harshvardhan sharma:
atleast the SriLankan players could see and indian sportsman ship is famous in the world. When was the last time any indian tolerated a loss in good grace. you people are famous for burning your own stadiums
Hopefully you will have a oppurtunity to burn a lot more when our TEAM WHICH CAN SEE will come over (i,e if you are not to afraid to face them )
If something similar happened in Pakistan, done by a Pakistani or Indian, we Pakistanis would have been blamed what so ever. So why not consider the Indians behind this as well. After all they were their guests. Special care, checks and balances should have been there anyways for the blind.
Thank God Zeeshan Abbasi is out of danger. What he consumed was not acid, but either cleaning detergent, or phenyle disinfectant. However, the question still remains, a bottle containing such a liquid should have never been within the reach of the blind players.
There are chances of either gross incompetence or some hate crime. We will find out the truth.
@Harshvardhan sharma: your comment is just an attempt to divert the matter, and people who fired at SL's were from the region where where dozen's of ur consulates are working...
Poor guy. Wish him good health.
Thing to note is the defense these Indians are putting up "It can be a jealous teammate" ... seriously! Shame on you heartless Indians for doing this shameful act to an innocent blind person.
SHAME, what you can expect from these Indians, PCB Should cancel the upcoming tour immediately and call back the Blind team.
This could happen only in India. One can't find such cowardice anywhere else in this world. But this sold out media of ours wouldn't make a headline involving India. Had it been Pakistan I am sure this would have become a headline on BBC and CNN even.
Strange
The Indian media says that he is was not in any danger.
Pakistan is continuing to play matches and he drank it " accidentally".
God knows what the truth is.
End sporting ties with India. They are not worth it.
If it would have been happened to any indian sports person in pakistan their media would have made it a terrorist attack through their headlines....and look at our media, what kind of headline tribune made...shame on u tribune. why don't u guys expose india in front of the world in its true manner???
Not a Fair GAME! Play Fair INDIA
you Indians !!!!!!! shame on you ... now where are you ?
@Yoghurt lover
What a shameful twist and bigotry! You cannot fool the readers. The acid was placed by the Indians to avenge their humiliating defeat at the hands of Pakistan yesterday. Plain and simple
There is no question of staying quiet. This is a very serious matter. We will find out what happened.
India, investigate thoroughly, invite Pakistan police to join the investigation. And quick results please.
@Feroz:
You have raised very realistic & technical point. I think majority of the acids have pungent smell and repulsion to taste. It’s a deliberate poising through some overlooked source.
What an utterly despicable & inhumane act, placing a bottle of ACID on table of a blind cricketer
This is a very unfortunate incident indeed, and a shameful one for us, as it happened in our country :-( Wishing Zeeshan a speedy recovery! Hope the culprit gets caught and punished asap!
And these indians call us terrorists. Asliyat saamney aa gayi
Now Indian trolls will stay quiet on this issue or blame it on that poor blind man, sigh. God bless our blind cricket team & good luck with the tournament.
how low can one can go to poison a blind person by placing a glass of acid in front f him, pathetic, but indians can, now open your eyes aman ki asha and all wo cant live without indian stuff on tv.
Indian agents... conspicuous by their absence
To all Pakistan is it proved that it was deliberately done sure one can debate what the heck was acid bottle doing there but we have lot more things to do that avenging pakistanis last time I checked Noone wanted to tour Pakistan because of your hospitality to shoot on poor SL players bus can I say that it was a deliberate act by Pakistan govt let the findings come out we are not the ones to shy away from truth like Pakistan from hammudur rehman commission report its still not taught or accessible to Pakistan try reading that and look in mirror
This is a shame for shinning India..Internal governing councils for sports should BAN all sporting activities in India .. this is house of corrupt people who are spoiling sports !

this is a shameful and criminal act by the indian authorities. this reveals the fact that what level of moral courage do the indian people and nation has.
May Allah give him health and recovery. Whoever did it should be brought to justice, one can easly rule out an accident.
This is really cruel stuff, specially against people who are already deprived of living a normal life. Lets see what posters from across the border have to say on this shameful act.
This news has shocked everyone who has some feeling for the special people. This is showing the security level in India specially for Pakistani cricketers. This is the highest sportsmanship spirit from the Indians, who could not face the defeat from the Pakistan on their soil and their biasedness to Pakistan and inhumane behaviour and feelings they have for Pakistanis. I pray for the all team which is present there and also for the team which is planning to go there for a series in India. Bravo Indians Bravo, you are the true sportsman.
How low can people stoop !!!
They better arrest whomever a responsible! And rethink the whole pak cricket team tour to India! Astaghfaar! Allah ussay complete sehhat dey, inshallah!
Pathetic SUBHEADING by ET - he mistook ; it wasnt his fault! Y DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO PUT IT THE WRONG WAY? I feel sad I advertised on social networks for this paper on its launch!should be banned
What do you expect from these Indians. If PCB and Pak govt. has any shame left in themselves they should quickly cancel Pakistan tour to India later this month and should immediately call back our blind cricket team. No wonder world is banning Indians first IOC then international boxing federation suspending Indians. Cricket is full of match fixing, bookies and mafias there.
Very sad indeed, will pray for his speedy recovery. I wonder which is this Acid that tastes like water.
This is shocking. Investigating authorities should have seized all CCTV footage and also detained all employees who were working on that day for thorough questioning. They should not leave it to the hotel management.
Praying for the man. May the family know that millions of Pakistanis are behind him
This is so PATHETIC!!!!!
This is a horrible tragedy.
I will not be surprised if how own team-members are involved this.
I know for a fact that they are all staying at ITC Gardenia, a 5 star hotel. It's impossible that a bottle of acid will find its way to a person's table, unless deliberately placed.
But thank god, he is in India, where he is more likely to get a better treatment than if he was in Pakistan.
really shocking and shameful if it is deliberate.
tch tch .. Very sad ..!
It must be investigated at the highest level.
The most liberal country in the world serving acid to blind people !
The definition of Sore loosers !!
That is amazingly pathetic, to place acid on a table in front of someone blind is nothing short of attempted murder. If an Indian player were ever poisoned like that in Pakistan, India would have moved it's tanks to the borders.
