Pakistan is a nation of resilient people, said US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Marc Grossman, who is due to retire later this month, at a farewell dinner hosted by Pakistani ambassador Sherry Rehman.
“Pakistanis will solve their challenges in their own way,” he said, adding that the US is proud to support that effort.
Ambassador Grossman assumed the role of Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan after the death of Richard Holbrooke in 2010. After his retirement, Principal Deputy David Pearce will assume the role, who is currently visiting Pakistan. Ambassador Grossman, in his speech, said that his first posting as a diplomat had been in Islamabad. “Diplomats can never take their first post out of their heart, and my first post was in Islamabad.”

No, Mr. Grossman. Pakistanis are helpless people. We have been ruled by a corrupt and unlawful military elite for the most part of our life, thanks to your government's policies.
