SIALKOT: The district administration has declared 86 industrial units in residential areas as hazardous and has issued relocation notices to them. These include rubber, shoe, chemical and paint factories. This was announced by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal in a meeting with the Sialkot Industrial Safety and Relocation Committee on Friday. The DCO said that the district administration had issued the industrial units notices for immediate relocation and shifting to areas outside the residential areas. He said that the district administration was training factory owners and workers in fire-fighting techniques with the help of Rescue 1122 teams. The trainings were being supervised by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that a comprehensive survey of all the 7,000 small and big industrial units in the city was being conducted to monitor their fire safety and security arrangements in a bid to avoid and deal with any untoward incident.
