LAHORE: Even though the winter season hasn’t approached Pakistan in full swing yet, the textile industry is already gearing up for next summer’s lawn season. J&S Events wanted to jump the gun on the mega lawn bonanza that hits the country each year. They announced the launch of a new platform titled Pakistan Lawn Week for lawn manufacturers and designers in a press conference held on Thursday.

“This four-day exhibit coupled with two days of ramp shows, seminars and workshops will be held in both Lahore and subsequently in New Delhi,” said Jalal Salahuddin of J&S.

J&S have earned the trust of the Indian market to provide quality products. They previously succeeded with Lifestyle Pakistan earlier this year. It is anticipated that with the progress of Pakistan Lawn Week, trade opportunities will increase tenfold.

Pakistan Lawn Week aims to highlight the growing phenomenon of Lawn fabric made locally for the home and overseas market. Bringing manufacture from across the country, showcasing different qualities of lawn, this platform not only focuses on satisfying the shopping needs of Lahori women but also functions a trade expo.

The lawn fabric is in high demand across the country as well as across borders; such a platform will legitimise the process of trade and, to a certain extent, bring a sense of quality control to the craft.

Every year new players join the Lawn race with varying dates of release, launches and distribution points. Pakistan Lawn Week aspires to bring all major and smaller stakeholders of this market together under one roof, connecting them directly with the end consumer.

“For women it will be the one stop shop for all lawn needs,” Jalal Salahuddin continues, “and the invitation is open to all lawn producers to join.”

Pakistan Lawn Week hopes to bring together the entire textile community involved in the production of lawn together. The estimated date for the week set from February 28, 2013 till March 3, 2013 in Lahore and April  for New Delhi,

Only time will tell whether there will be quality checks on the lawn produced or J&S will give specific guidelines according to which the product will be produced. As for now, let’s see how this platform works out for the consumer and manufacturers in the times to come.
