KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were influencing the judiciary. “It is strange that the thoughts of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are reflected in the courts [judgements],” Memon told media personnel outside the Sindh Assembly on Thursday.

The Pakistan Peoples Party leader reiterated his party’s opposition to the Kalabagh Dam project, and said that the Lahore High Court’s recent directives to the federal government for constructing the dam was “part of a series of efforts to create rifts between provinces, which we will not allow”. The information minister later clarified that “Punjab is as dear to us as other provinces are”.
