FAISALABAD:

The Faisalabad airport will be upgraded to international standards, said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Zahid Aslam quoting a letter written by the Punjab governor to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The directive came after businessmen took up the matter with the governor during his recent visit to the chamber, he said.

In a statement, Aslam said in order to speed up the process of upgrading the airport, the matter would also be taken up with the prime minister.

The upgrade of the airport has been a longstanding demand of the business community and people of Faisalabad, which will lead to the start of direct international flights from the city to various destinations of the world.
