Dual nationals: NA speaker accepts PML-N MNA resignation
Dr Kumar resigned citing “personal reasons”.
ISLAMABAD:
National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, has accepted the resignation of PML-N MNA Dr Araish Kumar.
A notification to this effect was issued by the National Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday and sent to the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP).
Dr Kumar, who failed to file a fresh declaration denying that he held dual nationality, resigned citing “personal reasons”.
On Monday, the ECP provided a list of over 1100 members including those who had not submitted the fresh declaration denying dual nationality.
The ECP had set a November 30 deadline for parliamentarians and MPAs to submit affidavits bearing on their denial of holding dual nationalities.
