J K Rowling adult novel to be adapted for BBC One
“I always felt that, if it were to be adapted, this novel was best suited to television and I think BBC is the perfect home,” Rowling said.
The Casual Vacancy examines the clash of ideals, classes and generations in the seemingly sleepy English town of Pagford. The novel has topped the bestseller lists in several countries, although it did not match the success of the Potter phenomenon.
Rowling will collaborate closely on the project, with the number and length of episodes to be decided once the adaptation has formally begun. The series is expected to air in 2014.

You gotta hand it to those Freemasons at the BBC who helped create "Rowling" they certainly do not hang around when they feel their national icon has been threatened. It will be interesting to see what resemblance if any the series and characters bear to the original. Perhaps the establishment believes that squeaky clean Rowling can deflect public attention from the unholy mess left by the Jimmy Savile fiasco?
