Man kills brother in Malir courts premises

A man shot his younger brother and injured a prosecution official on the premises of the Malir District Courts.

KARACHI: A man, identified as Sharafat, shot dead his younger brother, Shaukat, and injured a prosecution official, Aashiq, on the premises of the  Malir District Courts on Monday.

The police had presented two men, Sharafat’s brother Shafqat and his nephew, Abid, before the court of the additional district judge II on the charges of killing Sharafat’s wife Safya on September 15, 2009, within the limits of the Quaidabad police station.

The police had lodged an FIR against both men on the complaint of Sharafat. The accused men were taken to court for a hearing on Monday, where Abid was granted bail.

Sharafat’s other brother Shaukat, who was legally facilitating the accused men, was also present at the occasion. When the bail was announced, Sharafat attacked 42-year-old Shaukat and killed him within the limits of the Alfalah police station.

The body was taken to Jinnah hospital and was later handed over to the family. Meanwhile, Sharafat was arrested by the police.
