KARACHI: Pakistan defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in the E Mahinda Rajapaksa International Football Tournament in Sri Lanka yesterday. The under-23 side played their first match in the tournament, which is also featuring Bangladesh, Maldives and the hosts. After playing a goalless first half, KRL striker and captain Kaleemullah scored the winner for the team in the 80th minute. According to Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Secretary Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, the victory will set the tone for the team in their next match against Maldives tomorrow. “I hope they continue their momentum as it’s rare for them to win their opening matches in any international tournament,” said Lodhi.
