Up in smoke: Fire breaks out in cotton factory

It took the firefighters two hours to put out the fire.

KARACHI: Goods worth millions went up in smoke due to a fire at a cotton factory near Godown Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area on Sunday. According to fire brigade officials, one fire tender was immediately rushed to the site to extinguish the blaze and later four more were dispatched. There were no casualties as the factory was closed due to holiday. They said that the fire broke out in the storeroom of the factory, situated on the first floor. It took the firefighters two hours to put out the fire. Reason for the blaze has yet to be ascertained.
