PESHAWAR:
There are many speculations about whether senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Iftikhar Khan Jhagra will join the Awami National Party (ANP) or his former party, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Jhagra, a former member of the PPP’s central executive committee (CEC), resigned from the party on November 26 last year and with much fanfare joined the PTI. The ceremony was also attended by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
One source close to Jhagra said that he was being ‘wooed’ by both the PPP and ANP. He also mentioned that Jhagra had scheduled a meeting with PPP’s Provincial President Anwar Saifullah Khan on Saturday, but it has been cancelled due to Saifullah’s prior engagements.
It was hinted that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti will be visiting Jhagra in his village to try and convince him to join the ANP instead.
However, PPP Deputy Information Secretary Gohar Inqilabi told The Express Tribune that Jhagra has already made his decision. “Everything has been settled and Jhagra will announce his decision to join the PPP next week,” he said, adding that he has not set any demands to rejoin.
Gohar was also hopeful that many others were likely to join the PPP within the coming days, but was not keen on revealing names.
Jhagra, however, was not available for comments.
PTI, however, had acted indifferently to the news of Jhagra’s departure. According to a senior party leader, they have ‘heard rumours’ that he’s leaving. However, he said that if Jhagra leaves PTI “it will prove that he was here for positions and when he did not get them, he left.”

I am seeing resurgence of PTI with screening of opportunists. Members will come in drove to elect their leadership. We are with you PTI.
Party elections has speed up the cleansing process in party. Those who take politics as buisness is leaving and more will follow. Party elections has exposed all of these opportunists who joined PTI for personal gain not for PTI ideology. Good job IK
where is these wickets going, very proudly PTI took.
note my words, PTI will evaporate within couple of years...like Asghar Khan's party before, "if PTI doesn't get another Pasha.. IK is a hero of Taliban not the Pashtuns.
The more status quo politicians leave PTI the better it is! Such ppl r businessmen not politicians.
@Noor: PTI is stronger in KPK because Pashtuns support IK because he is also a Pashtun
@ahmad: Dear ahmad! i think dirty and opportunists should leave PTI immediately as the real asset of PTI the members shall choose the electables. Before kicking them out from this clean party they should immediately resign. History is going to be made by the revolutionists of PTI. PTI does not need the dirty and corrupt politicians rather clean and young spirits. PTI has shocked all the parties in lahore and in Karachi specially and in other constituencies as well. Nawaz sharif and zardari did not sleep even for an hour after these historic rallies. ANP is going to be eliminated for ever with PPP and PML-N in 2013.
Poor, infant & dumb Ptians....just watching this thriller in utter Shock!!
It,ll be plus point for PTI if these people leave PTI sooner than later. PTI don't need any big name.
Thanks fr leaving.
VOTE FOR PTI.
PTI is much stronger in KPK.no worry
