SOFIA: Pakistani cueist Mohamamd Asif sailed into the IBSF World Snooker Championship finals, Express news reported early Sunday morning.

Winning his ninth game on the trot, Asif crushed Malta's Alex Borg, seven frames to one and secured his place in the final. Asif remains unbeaten in the tournament.

Earlier, Asif reached the semi-finals in the IBSF World Snooker Championship after beating Syria 6-2, Express News had reported earlier on Saturday.

Asif had triumphed against Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese 5-0 in their last 32-match played on Friday in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Asif showed great confidence as he beat Calabrese 63-40, 115-14, 69-65, 67-55 and 67-15.

Team manager Munawwar Sheikh was pleased with the performances of cueists Asif and Asjad Iqbal, who bowed out of the event at the start of the knock-out stage after a 4-3 loss.

“Asif has been simply outstanding throughout the tournament, while Iqbal was unlucky to get knocked out,” Sheikh told The Express Tribune earlier.
