“As per available inputs from central intelligence and investigation agencies, consignments of high quality fake Indian currency notes (FICN) have been directly or indirectly sourced from Pakistan,” Indian Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena informed the Parliament as quoted by the story.
In response to a question whether India has sought help from the US to tackle the menace of fake currency notes, the minister replied in the affirmative.
He stated, “Under the Indo-US homeland security dialogue, counterfeit currency is one of the aspects for cooperation, covering exchange of knowledge, skill and intelligence.”

@Jat: But, as you are living in Britain, you really don’t know what is going on here in this region. And your loyalties are divided. And in Britain are cabinet ministers known as “government stooges”,
Again a presumptuous statement to make, First of all by you saying "As you are living in Britain,You really don't know what is going on here in this region" you are excluding not only Pakistani's but ALL NRI (Non-Resident Indian's) from engaging in a discussion about there homeland (so GP65 and others no more comments please) furthermore you say "And your Loyalties are divided" I for your information am a businessman who spend equal amounts of time both in UK and Pakistan as well as spending time in other countries also. I follow one simple rule "RULE OF LAW OF THE COUNTRY I AM LIVING IN" i treat ALL people equally and do not care what there country of origin is. i do not see how? being a global citizen requires me to show/have loyalties? I am loyal only to HUMANITY. Finally with regards to British Parliament with all its flaws it still is the best form/example of governance and has achieved this through hundreds of years of struggle. Indian Parliament is also worthy of praise for its achievements (definitely ahead of Pakistan Parliament) but both have a fair bit to go before they can eclipse the British in this respect.
@Akhter: Great I agree with most of what you have said above.
But, as you are living in Britain, you really don't know what is going on here in this region. And your loyalties are divided. And in Britain are cabinet ministers known as "government stooges", especially when laying statements/reports in the parliament ?
One more thing, there are at least two things seriously wrong with your following statement, which in the interest of having a civil discussion I will let you correct yourself,
...the Pakistan (democratically elected) government representatives have also stated on many instances that they have evidence of Indian intelligentsia involvement in Pakistan,so going by your definition this becomes a Pakistan Government statement.
@Jat: "You have lived under the boots for so long… when a minister makes a written statement and lays it in either Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha; it automatically becomes a statement from the Government of India." A very presumptuous statement to make! How do you know i actually live in Pakistan? I voted 3 times for Labour party and once for the conservative party (UK) and have traveled extensively across the globe, so i think i am well versed in Democratic proceeding's. Furthermore the Pakistan (democratically elected) government representatives have also stated on many instances that they have evidence of Indian intelligentsia involvement in Pakistan,so going by your definition this becomes a Pakistan Government statement. Finally Counterfeit currency is an issue across the globe, I have many times been handed counterfeit Pakistani Rupees, Sterling Pound's as well as American dollars,This is a world wide issue which all governments face, Does this mean that as i am Pakistani origin i had anything to do with the fake currency? It is criminals who partake in these activities(fake currency/Drug smuggling/Murder/Rape etc) and for me they have no nationality or allegiance they are all CRIMINALS regardless whether they are of Indian origin Pakistani Origin or any other nation. THEY ARE CRIMINALS!.
It is Pakistanis who are eager to go India and make more money. Few days back India has drastically reduced the import of cement from Pakistan because of drugs was sent with the cement shipment. I beleive it is true as we are capable of doings this sorts of actvities and in the past we did it to middle east. We must accept the truth so that our next generation can correct it.We must not deny it just because we do not have a good relation with India.
India must be the most incompetent nation. Can't protect their border from teenagers nor does it have any control over its currency. What a sorry state.
@Dr.Shafique: Few months ago there was a news report in Pakistan news papers that the money changers, (even licensed ones) in Pakistan pass off counterfeit notes to unsuspecting travelers from Pakistan. The Pakistani traveler faces lot of difficulties when they land abroad and try to cash the currencies.
Someone wanted proof - Nepal: Pakistan Embassy Employee Caught With Counterfeit Indian Rupees - Wikileaks
@Akhter: You have lived under the boots for so long... when a minister makes a written statement and lays it in either Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha; it automatically becomes a statement from the Government of India.
This is the Indian Parliament we are talking about. It is on record now, officially. Oh well, I guess you won't understand all these things...
I have a solution. Why not use this "high quality" currency as real one? You save on printing cost.
@Jat: I commented here on 23rd November, 2012. You people will never learn. And our patience is running out… And your point is??? am i to expect a full on assault from the (not so) mighty Hindustan? Led by you no doubt? i am sick of you making threats hiding behind some computer you obviously are more delusional by the day. You have proven me wrong self righteous and arrogant Indians like you really do believe all the bull** your government feeds you. No evidence given just an accusation by a government stooge and as usual you jump on the bandwagon harping on about how evil Pakistan is its almost like you spend all your waking hours trawling ET pages so that you can hurl your malicious venom at anything remotely Pakistani. DREAM ON!!!!
FYI, while Indian politicians are not always honest, they do take statements given to the parliament very seriously. I'd find this statement much easier to dismiss if it had been given through the press rather than made in the house.
@Raj - USA:
"Manufacturing" (is it the right word?) fake currency is a widespread industry in Pakistan. We also hear here in the Gulf about fake local currencies appearing in circulation with Pakistan being the origin of production of such tender. A time will come when any Pakistani buying anything in the world with any currency will first have to produce his passport, visa and air-ticket to make sure that the tender he is offering is indeed legal. Pakistan has no economy -- it has a black economy, by which I mean it only has a counterfeit economy.
Yes, pak has this ability . After all if they can produce high quality terrorists , then why can't do it.
So we are running Indian economy :D
Pakistan's senior diplomat expelled - from BBC News
@Billi Ko Cheechroon Ke Khwab: Laugh while you still can...
So... its better than their own quality. They must start to import it.
@Usman Khurshid: It will cost more to counterfeit Pakistan Rupee notes than what the currency is worth.
Haha...Some people in India sleep dreaming Pakistan, Pakistanis, ISI, Pak Army, Pak cricket team blah blah blah
100% truth. pakistan will play all backside dirty games against India
hahaa...nothing coming out of pak is of high quality
High quality? Are the Indians sure that the currency is from Pakistan?
@Jat: The instance I was referring to (in addition to the one you have mentioned) is that of the senior official at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi paying for his child's school admission / / fee in fake INR 500 notes. The bank caught it when the school was depositing it into its bank account. Do not know what happened later.
@Raj - USA: "Few years ago, a Senior Pakistani Embassy official was caught trying to pass of fake Indian currency."
Yes it happened in Nepal, and the diplomat escaped claiming diplomatic immunity.
Indian gov and its official are fool . Just give me license and I will do the same .
They never complained about Veena Malik ... We exported her too .. Oohh right she is not fake she is so real and truly represent the liberal Pakistan
Bunk!... Quality is our problem...U goofed on this one India. AND Pls don't burn anymore garment factories.
@Usman Khurshid: No need India to do that as Pak PKR is already fake in International market. As per yesterday show of Talit GOP printing 300 crore everyday without any backup.
@Its (still) Economy Stupid - I wish there was a spell check to help u correct ur name spelling, secondly i am well aware of whts under my bed but some how few pple just can not move beyond usual conspiracy theories.

Jat Nov 23, 2012 - 5:20PM Reply To all Pakistanis: Our ability to act as “elder brother/good neighbor” ends where Pakistan’s policy of sending “terrorists and counterfeit currency” into India begins. Recommended 21
US has similar complaints of fake US Dollars originating from Pakistan.
Few years ago, a Senior Pakistani Embassy official was caught trying to pass of fake Indian currency.
@Usman Khurshid: I guess you have never been to Cantt stations. Those 1000 Rs bills do look real.
@abs: Not only that . . . there's a bogeyman hiding under your bed.
Only high quality stuff is allowed to be exported from Pakistan.
indian authorities see a lot of funny dreams related to pakistan
We are hearing these rumours for the last three years. I hope there is no Truth in the allegations because it can have serious consequences. It is wise to investigate this matter because no one knows what Dawood Ibrahim and his friends are up to. The country cannot afford to take such serious allegations lightly considering the adverse implications.
When u guys wont be able to make some good quality notes, we will supply u with the Highest quality. #WeAreBrothers. :p
Lolz nice one Indian govt, you guys are so innocent (rather fools) sitting at helm of affairs or atleast you appear to be like that. You CIA / CID or what ever it is has an easy escape making a subjective statement "Directly or Indirectly" from Pakistan. Taking your logic since South Punjab which has been producing most of sectarian killers in Pakistan, since belonged to India prior to 1947, hence its been Indirectly arranged by India. What rubbish, grow up and come up with some thing better. All Aman kee Aasha and other CBMs go into vain and pple in the region suffering for the non sense governments and armies from the both sides bring to the common pple. The only objective is to keep both the nations fighting for ever so that no one talks about cutting the defense budget and why waste money / resources on Agni / Babar missiles while millions are under poverty line.
ISI has its own agenda re Trade Liberalisation between the two countries ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The quality of counterfeit is such that it can only come from a Govt facility and the inflow is via Nepal, Indonesia UAE.
I hope India will take this a founding step as to export fake Pkr currency to Pakistan ..
