Academic partnership: Pakistan, Mauritius sign memorandum
KARACHI:
A memorandum of understanding was signed by the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) and Doha Academy of Tertiary Studies (DATS) on Wednesday. The ICCBS, affiliated with the University of Karachi, and DATS, based in Mauritius, have agreed to collaborate on research in marine, chemical and biological sciences. The director of ICCBS, Dr Iqbal Choudhary, said that this agreement would increase academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries. According to the chairman of DATS, Nazir Khodabux, Mauritian students felt comfortable in Pakistan despite the poor law and order situation. The memorandum, which will be in effect for the next five years, stated that workshops and seminars will be organised regularly to develop linkages between academics and researchers from the two organisations.
