Provincial Minister for Prisons Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar on Wednesday inaugurated a bus service for students of Government SE College in Bahawalpur. He announced that another bus would be provided to the college in a month. Channar said that arrangements had also been made for the establishment of a library on college premises.
He said that the education sector was amongst the government’s priorities. He said that the transparency in the distribution of laptops amongst students was an example of the government’s commitment to promotion of education. Channar said the government was spending all available resources to improve the quality of education facilities in the province, particularly in the Saraiki speaking areas.
He said that 35 posts of gazetted lecturers for Saraiki language had been notified in this regard. Government SE College Principal Shafiqur Rehman said the college planned to start four new master’s programmes in physics, math, history and political science.
He requested the prisons minister to increase college’s funds so that the building could be expanded.
Rehman said the college was currently holding classes for nine master’s degree programmes and 11 bachelors’ degree programmes.
