Love marriage: Man beaten, humiliated by brother-in-law

MULTAN:

A newly-wed man was beaten up by his brother-in-law and his relatives on Tuesday, police said.

They hanged him from a tree and shaved off his hair, including his moustache. Police said Muhammad Tariq married Samina Bibi a year ago in a court. Since their parents had not approved of the marriage, police said, the couple started living in a separate house. A few months ago, they said, Samina Bibi’s father forcibly took her back to his house.

On Tuesday, he threatened to file a complaint with the police. Samina Bibi’s brother and some of his relatives took Tariq to a dera, beat him up and humiliated him. They later abandoned him on a roadside. An assault and a kidnap case has been registered against Samina Bibi’s brother and her father. No one has been arrested so far.
