Amin’s double relieves PQA’s frustrations

Test discard sends timely reminder with 236*.

KARACHI: Umar Amin sent a timely reminder to the selectors with an unbeaten double century for PQA against HBL in the President’s Trophy.

Amin carved an impressive 330-ball 236 as he helped PQA end day two on 539 for three. With the achievement, Amin now also sits on top of the scorers’ charts for the event with 722.

“Amin played an excellent innings on a difficult pitch which speaks volumes about his talent,” Latif told The Express Tribune. “He’s done his job by producing a magical innings after a frustrating season. He had earlier gotten a lot of starts but had failed to convert them into big scores.”

Meanwhile, Imran Nazir hammered 185 off just 152 balls while Haris Sohail scored 152 to put ZTBL in a strong position against UBL. ZTBL declared their first-innings on 643 for six before UBL were left reeling on 147 for eight.

Elsewhere, leading wicket-taker Zulfiqar Babar took another five-wicket haul to give Wapda a 146-run first-innings lead over PIA which they managed to stretch to 234 after ending the day on 88 for five in their second-innings.

Ali Khan continued his good show with the ball. He added three wickets to his five-wicket haul in the first-innings to reduce NBP to 86 for four in their second-innings, still trailing by 29 runs. Leaders SNGPL were in strong position against SBP after Mohammad Rizwan’s 136 and Bilawal Bhatti’s four-wicket haul. SBP were 105 for eight while replying to SNGPL’s 310.
